Simple rule of thumb
Correct length hockey stick can be determined via a simple rule of thumb. The correct length of your hockey stick should reach just above the tip of your nose when you’re standing barefoot. To find the correct length, measure from the floor to one centimeter above the tip of your nose while standing with your gaze straight ahead and bare feet. You will get the length in centimeters, which you can quickly convert to inches by dividing by 2.54.
Avoiding a Too-Long Hockey Stick
It is crucial to have the right length for your hockey stick. Using a stick that is too long can negatively impact your skating by forcing you into an overly upright position. While it may have been trendy to use longer sticks for their increased reach, this can hinder your development, especially for young players and juniors. Stick to the proper length for the best growth and performance in hockey.

“When I see children and young people on the ice, the single biggest equipment problem is that they play with hockey sticks that are too long and too stiff.”

Invest in a Stick with the Right Length and Flex
“All hockey players, young and old, should have the opportunity to play with the right hockey stick. Sweden is at the forefront of skills and technology, and now it’s time to embrace the modern, faster-paced hockey. Material development has made this possible, but it’s essential to understand the importance of using sticks with the correct length and flex to unlock your full potential.”
